She wore a small smile as he talked. It was little things like this that she had missed. The way he rambled on, the spark in his eyes when he got to explain something to her. All of it. All of him. She nodded, steadying the TARDIS and making sure she was prepared to land.

He grinned right back at her. He loved making her smile, or making her watch him in awe. He always felt like he was glowing from her admiration at times. He flipped the large switch down and they landed, the Doctor then clapping his hands together once. “SO! Yes! Summer in Asgard! Let’s hope their hospitable again. I do love their mutton up here.” He grinned wide and rubbed his hands together before turning back to her.

“Oh right, go on then. Get something warm on. You do know how I love your outfits.” He winked at her and then cleared throat, straightening his bow tie to only make it more crooked. “Be out soon then!”

"Commenting on my age five minutes in the conversation." she smiles still, "Happened?"

“Oh, we all know you are beyond age, Sexy.” He grinned and shrugged. “Nothing. Don’t worry about it. What’s happened since last I saw you?”

He nodded his head in excitement, despite the fact he could see her sadness. It broke him, but he was afraid that he would lose her again. He was cursing his own actions. The Doctor ran toward the kitchen, getting a picnic to go before stumbling on back. “Off we go then! You remember the coordinates, right?” He placed the picnic basket down to begin flicking switches.

“Always,” she replied, walking to the console. She touched it lightly with her fingertips, closing her eyes. She could hear the old girl emit a purr once she touched her. “She missed me.” She felt a tear roll down her cheek. “I missed you too, Sweetie,” she whispered to the TARDIS. She dipped her head and tried to snap out of her nostalgia. “Right. Asgard.” She punched in the coordinates.

He leaned over the console, watching her from the tops of his eyes, hands pressed down to lean in more. The ache in his heart was strong. He felt like such a failure to her. When she snapped out of it and looked up, he went about preparing the TARDIS for take off, trying to look as busy and as happy as possible. “Same spot? Oh I do believe if we leave in the next five minutes, we can reach the blazing sunset. Very beautiful. The gateway to Valhalla, so they say.”

He smiled and reached over for the large switch, pulling it down. “River, make sure she keeps from veering over if you will.”

She tilts her head, "My what?

He looked over her face and then furrowed her brow. “You look…a lot younger, Sexy.” She stepped to her. “Do you know what happened?”

River was taken aback. “You saw, they need a little time to cool off. They aren’t exactly happy to be here. They’re angry. Give them at least a few hours.” She backed against the railing, looking down, suddenly feeling self conscious and rejected. “I’ve missed you, Doctor. Haven’t you missed me at all? Or…or did you just forget me?”

He looked down at her worriedly, wringing his hands while he ducked his head. He bit at his lip and nodded. “Yes. Yes of course I missed you. River.” He took a hold of her hands and pulled her in, hugging her close. He rested his head on the side of her face and began to sway with her. “I could never forget you.” He sighed. “It’s…just..” He was nervous, really. He hadn’t been with her for a while. Were things still the same?

“I-I had quite a long day today. Could we talk? Honestly I’ve got so many stories to tell you. And you! I want to hear from you!” He smiled in a childish manner. “What do you say, River? It could be another picnic at Asgard. You loved it there!”

She laughed wearily and hung her head slightly down to hide the tears forming in her eyes. “Sounds good. Asgard. Let’s go. We can leave the girls a note. They probably won’t leave their rooms anyway.”

He nodded his head in excitement, despite the fact he could see her sadness. It broke him, but he was afraid that he would lose her again. He was cursing his own actions.
